Programme notes: additional text

Behind the supposedly innocent notes of the scale lies an eerie secret. With this composition, one dives into the eerie abysses of the scale and at the same time will be fascinated by its terrible tones.

It begins quite harmlessly with the good old major scale. Imagine: The musician is happily playing along on his instrument, and suddenly lurking behind the next note - the dreaded exaggeration! A tiny half-step that creeps into the harmony and turns the pure joys of major harmony into a musical labyrinth. A nasty surprise!

But wait, that's not all! Here comes the major-minor transformation, which strikes fear into the hearts of the unprepared musicians. You're playing happily in the major, and suddenly this mysterious minor note creeps in. The chords sound sombre and sad, as if an evil sorcerer has stolen the sound of the scale. There the musicians stand, with questioning looks and perplexed expressions on their faces, while their instruments desperately search for the lost major harmony. These are the true horrors of the major-minor transformation!

And then we have the dreaded tritone, also known as the "devil in music". One moment of carelessness and there it is, the tritone, causing everything to sink into musical chaos. It forces its way between the harmonic intervals and creates a dissonant cacophony that makes even the bravest musician tremble. It is probable that a single tritone is hell on earth for the musical ear.

But there is another cruel facet of the scale: the octave! Sound innocent? You're playing a beautiful melody and suddenly you have to make a huge leap to reach the next octave. A moment of panic, because if you're not careful, you could get caught up in a hopeless mess. The octave, a truly terrifying obstacle on the path to musical perfection!

So one should beware of the terrors of the scale! But don't be discouraged either, because behind all the eerie tones and musical nightmare landscapes there is also the possibility of creating true masterpieces.
