Programme notes: The world premiere of the operetta Waldmeister took place in Vienna in 1896. The first version of the overture must not have contained the Allegretto moderate with the hunting motifs added by the söäter for the print. Therefore, this overture is played in both versions.[1] It is a love story that finds a happy ending after a few confusions and mistakes, as is usual in operettas. On the way to this Happy End a Waldmeisterbowle plays a decisive role. Due to the effect of the alcohol the right pairs are found at the end.[2] Quelle/Source: Kliment[1]; Wikipedia[2]
