Programme notes: additional text

As radiantly solemn and fierily inflamed pieces, these compositions were conceived for openings of ceremonial acts. Despite different stylistic characteristics such as the dignified expression of the fanfare for the Vienna City Hall, the constant rhythmic overlapping of the Lucent fanfare or the extended harmonic understanding and impulsiveness of the fanfare grotesque, all three pieces possess the basic characteristics of usual fanfare compositions. They live from their signal character, a catchy and unusual melody, isolated surprise moments as well as a brilliantly sublime temperament and leave a rich acoustic impression due to their brevity and conciseness.
