Programme notes: Croatian folk music has a long tradition and is characterized above all by its popular character. Usually it is simple, cheerful but also melancholic songs, which vary depending on the region. The typical Slavonic folk music is based, for example, on a small orchestra with various stringed instruments, the so-called "tamburizza groups", whose cheerful music mostly deals with everyday life and the problems of the people.
