Programme notes: additional text

Time and again, sporting feats and successes have inspired composers to write music for them, mostly in the field of light music. Winter sports inspired Karl-Heinz Bell and when a "German neighbour" follows ski jumping with so much admiration and appreciative joy and the Austrian athletes impress him so much as "ski pilots" that he dedicates music to them, that is certainly extremely gratifying. The result is the "anthem" of the Austrian Boy's flying sooo far, cheerfully upbeat, rhythmically accentuated and the applause of the admiring spectators is appropriately incorporated from the very beginning.
