Robert Pensch's "Frisch auf Marsch (1er Schützen Marsch)" is a well-known example of the Austrian marching music tradition of the early 20th century. With its stirring melody and powerful rhythm, this march embodies the vitality and enthusiasm of its time and is still a popular piece in many wind orchestras today.

Robert Pensch, born in Laa an der Thaya in 1881 and died in Vienna in 1940, was a versatile musician and educator. His musical career began early when he worked as a choir boy in St. Stephan. After graduating from the teacher training college in Krems an der Donau in 1900, he taught in Vienna for over three decades and was appointed professor in 1925. Pensch was also actively involved in the Laa music and singing society, where he was a member from 1909 and later held the position of choir and honorary choir master. His contribution to the choral system in Austria was significant and contributed to the promotion and development of choral singing in the country.
