Programme notes: additional text

Hukvaldy is a small village in North Moravia where the famous Czech composer Leos Janácek was born. In the Hukvalder Serenade an old folk tune from Hukvaldy is quoted and arranged: "At the Hukvald castle I have a girl, I know her very well", which the composer had written down some years ago by Václav Rek, an old folk musician from Hukvald - one of the last people who still knew Leos Janácek personally. The "Hukvald Serenade" was composed as a small memento of Leos Janácek.
The instrumentation is based on the established large instrumentation of the wind orchestra. The tempo of the composition is calm, but not too slow.
