Programme notes: The history of this march is inextricably linked to the chapel of the Catholic boys' association "Alpenrose" Mariahilf, which was founded in 1922. On 24 June 1924, the Tiroler Anzeiger reported on the impressive appearance of this 25-man band at the Corpus Christi procession under the young Kapellmeister Stuchez. Franz Ruetz, who had been a co-operator in the parish of Innsbruck-Mariahilf since 1920, was active as the president of this chapel (which today corresponds roughly to the chairman). Erwin Trojan composed the Ruetz March to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the priest's death on the occasion of Franz Ruetz's Priminz. In principle, this should have been in1924, since the march was already played at the music festival of the Unterinntaler Musikbund (Austria's oldest brass band association) on 7 September 1927.
