Programme notes: additional text

When and where this extremely popular march by Hans Schmid was created can no longer be determined exactly. It does not bear an opus number either. However, it can be regarded as a prime example of a folksy Austrian march in its songlike simplicity of a trio with the main melody in the bass flugelhorns, which is then "answered" by the rest of the orchestra, so to speak.
